First time on Saltwater
#1
What's going on gents? Sorry I have been MIA for a bit but life has been crazy and fishing has been a bit non-existent for two months.

Had never fished salt water, and it was really killing me. So, last week I was able to fish the North Shore of Oahu even though the captain of the boat we originally booked cancelled due to rough sees. His partner boat was 12 ft bigger, has a smoother ride and was available so they took us out. Were the seas rough? Judging by the nonstop puking of the deckhand I would say YES, although the dramamine kept us from spewing our guts out. We were all close to tossing our breakfast at one point or another in the 15 ft seas, but kept it together and fought through it.

What did we fight? How about these. This was the first of the day and was my brothers.

This was a new personal best for me at 53.5 inches, and was the only one still in its ocean blue when landed.

This was the total haul for the day, all mahi mahi and small yellowfin. Two of the yellowfin in the corner payed the shark tax on the way in. I foul hooked the one that lost its head.

The guide, Chris Parker, was awesome. We lost two at the boat, boated 13 mahi mahi and the tuna seen. We also saw about 10 Humpback whales and a dolphin that was fishing where we were picking up bait in the morning. Great day, and I would recommend them again in a heartbeat. Their website is Chupu.com. Next saltwater adventure hopefully will be Alaska. I just hope it doesn't take 35 years for my second saltwater experience.

Awesome work DB! I grew up fishing salt water, but very seldom get to do it anymore. Those Dorado and Tuna are a hoot to catch! I'm glad that you got into them. I'm betting that this won't be your last salt water trip ;0) Fred K.
