Willard on Cinco de mayo
#1
Well they always say " you should have been here yesterday" I tried the area around the island, marked lots of fish but caught zip. The wind started to come up, so I moved up in front of the N. marina so I wouldn't have to fight the waves to leave. The wind shut down and it became a very nice day. I fished in the 14 foot zone around 700 yards out from the marina entrance and caught 2 'eyes and 3 wipers. Lost 1 'eye trying to net it and one really big wiper. The wipers were about 17 in. and both 'eyes were 19, not too bad. I run a new worm harness from Kokanee Creek( dark green with black splatter) on my downrigger @ 9 ft. and a planer with a silver rapala. 2.5 mph. Caught most on the harness, 1 'eye and 1 wiper on the crank. I have never had much luck at Willard, so I am pleased !

Thanks for posting your report Gary, sounds like you and Utwalleye had similar days out there yesterday. Do you have any pics of the KC worm harness you were using? I've been trying them all spring with not luck but I'm not sure if I have used that color.

Thanks Gary, I think that color was the only one I did not try, I'll try it on my next trip out.

I'd be interested in the Starvation ron-da-vu. Keep me in the loop. I got one nice 23 incher last week during the 16 minutes I was able to fish while breaking in my new outboard. The wind blew me off too soon.

Very nice Gary glad the giant bathtub rewarded ya. If ya don't mind, where'd ya launch from and water conditions at launch. FWIW we launch from north and curious on the North if you launched there I'm thinking not.

[#800000]Kim,

I launched from the North Marina alone. No problems at all getting in our out of the harbor. It sucks that they have the west half of the launch blocked off with cones near the water but I was able to launch and tie up to the west dock with no problems. Water just off the west dock was about 10 feet and going out the channel the small hump was at about 6 to 7 feet. Water out in the flats west of the North Marina was about 14 all over. I can't see that you would have any problems with your boat and since there are always 2 of you fishing the launch process should be easy for you.

Any plans for Cascade this summer?[/#800000]
