Hitting Yuba tomorrow (hopefully)
#1
Depending on the weather... I and another unnamed BFT-er are heading to Yuba tomorrow. He's bringing the boat and I'm bringing my mad-pike-catching skilz I acquired from sorta catching a small pike last month, the first of my life. [:p]

Looking at sevierriver.org, it looks like Yuba is about half-full, so it should make things entertaining. I haven't fished Yuba since I was about 12 and that was during one of the really high-water years.

The weather doesn't look great, but the water temp is supposed to be about 60*, so hopefully things will work out. Any tips on where to go or what to use? I'm taking a 7' med-heavy baitcasting rod with 40 lb braid, a 8'6" baitcasting rod (medium salmon/steelhead rod) w/ 20 lb braid, a 6'6" med baitcasting rod w/ 20 lb braid, a couple of different spinning rods and a 9' 9 wt fly rod.

Anyone have any tips on what to use or where to hit? A couple of smallmouth would be a nice bonus also. [cool]

I think your going to be better off waiting and letting it warm up. We did really good throwing big spinners last year once the water temp got higher. The water level is pretty low. Not sure how the dropping water level will affect the fishing. I would love to hear how you do when you go.[fishon]
