Changes to 2nd pole permit..
#1
Has any one else read this ?? I picked it up off another site..
TERMINATION OF SECOND POLE FISHING PERMITS Beginning July 1st, 2014, all fishing licenses will include the privilege of using a second pole without the need to purchase an additional permit.
Until then, you must have a 2nd pole permit in order to use two poles, but please be aware that refunds will not be given for any 2nd pole permit purchased prior to July 1st, 2014

It's been discussed a lot around here. There was a change to the fee schedule and the two pole permit rules.

They were proposed late last year, which is when most of the discussion took place on BTF.

A timely reminder though as the change nears.

I knew about this change to come the first of July, but my license was due in Feb. and i prefer two pole permit.
I could have waited till July to buy, but I am a bit addicted to the sport. So, i opted to spend the $8.00 or whatever it is difference and buy the license in Feb.
Do I feel they owe me a refund in July? Not at all. It is part of ever changing life.

I had known this was coming also. But, my fishing lic expired in March, and didn't want to wait till July to buy the new one that covered 2 poles. I didn't mind spending the extra $$ then, but now my question is, is my license and 2nd pole permit still good for the year from when I bought them? I would hope so. I'm not looking for any kind of refund, just full value for what I paid for.

I looked through this years proclamation and could not find where it says that.

Not sure, which "that" you are referring to, but look at page 6 of the 2014 Utah Fishing Guidebook.

your second pole permit becomes invalid on July 1, because it is covered by your license, which is valid for 1 year from date of purchase, which includes a second pole permit as of July 1, 2014 !! Very simple, RIGHT !!!! Look at it this way, you are donating an extra $8.00 to the cause !!! Priceless !!!

Yep, that's what they told me at Sportsmans ..... I figured maybe the extra charge would be good for some postage to ship a few more Walleye in from Colorado.

We're actually going to be putting a news release out about this change next week. We know that some people are already familiar with it, but we want to get the word out to those who haven't heard yet.

I just called the DWR and asked them for clarification on this issue.
I was told that anyone possessing a valid current fishing or combination license will be able fish with two poles as of July First 2014.
Good for the DWR for siding with the angler on this.

Even if they just bought the single permit? Now that doesn't seem fair to those that bought two does it? This is a different situation. Kinda like non Union members getting the same benefits of Union members without paying the dues.
How about it Amy?

this is my question. so any valid fishing license, even if purchased 7 months ago, gets you two poles after it goes into effect????? or is it only for licenses purchased after july 1st that get the perks of two poles?

I assumed it was the new ones, but maybe I was wrong. In all fairness it should be "you pay for that second pole" whether it be the $15. prior to July or the $7 or $8. increase after July 1st.

I agree, fishing licenses purchased after july 1st get the perks of the 2nd pole. but I just want to know if that's not the case anymore. I was told differenty.

So how is the change ever going to be "fair" without being a ridiculous nightmare?

What are they supposed to do? Pro-rate a return on a two pole license for those who bought one over the last year?

My license expires the first part of June. I'm still debating whether or not I'm going to bother with the second pole license for the month or just fish single pole for a month.

Knowing me, I'll probably go ahead and buy the second pole license -- which will be good for 8-10 trips.

According to how this reads, buy just a single. Save that $15.00! You will only have to wait a month till you can grab that extra pole for free!
AGAIN, I am not asking for a rebate. What's done is done.
This is total BS in its supreme. It should have taken effect January.
Charging for s service no longer available.

DKStroutfitter received the correct information. As long as you have a valid fishing or combination license — even if it was purchased before July 1, 2014 — you will be able to fish with two poles starting July 1. This information will also be in our news release next week.
