fishing hole advice
#1
So I finally pulled the boat out for the first time in 4 years. It's now running pretty good in the driveway and we're going to take it out for the first wet run. The question is where? I live in Stansbury and don't want to drag it to terribly fat for a first run in case we find something wrong. I usually fished strawberry. Recommendations on where to go & what to use would be greatly appreciated. We will be going on Wednesday and I'll be taking a friend that recently moved here from Seattle.

I would go to Willard and try for Wipers/Walleye. That way you are close to civilization if something goes wrong.

^^^^what this post said. You can run motor(s) up and fish being close in case you have issues. Good luck and make sure you have all boat requirements in case checked.

Rattle traps, Walleye Divers, Shad Raps and 1/8 or 1/16 white Maribou jigs for casting. Can't go wrong with 1.5-2 oz bottom bouncers and crawler harness with a tasty crawler. Trolling speeds hmmmm .6 and up till ya get a hit and adjust speed. Good luck you'll have fun no matter what any day fishing is way better than the best day at work if that's even possible with work.

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like wipers, walleye, and cats are all good there right now. I guess I need to figure out which to try for and how to target them. I can easily find trout, but these others are all new to me. As for speed, are toy going by a fish finder or boat speedometer or using a gps?

We use a hand held GPS.
