Got to the south marina at 8:00 and was treated by a mild 30 mph north wind @&$". Went to the north to see if launching was even possible. It was, but really big waves. Super nasty to try and control the boat in while trolling.
We trolled from the marina to the light pole and back and back and back. In all that time we boated 1 wiper and two walleye. One of the walleye was a very nice 23" and four lbs.
About noon the wind died and the sun came out. It was downright pleasant for a little while. We headed over to freeway bay as things started to settle. We started to pick up wipers when the water temp hit 60 and it was consistent if not fast until the brisk north wind picked back up at 3:30. After that it completely shut down, so we called it at about 4.
We ended the day with a dozen or so wipers. Two of them broke the 4 lbs mark. Highlight of the day was helping my little man bag his biggest wiper to date.

It was nasty early and I was on the water around 7AM out of the north marina. I headed to the north dike as well for some cover from the wind and headed out to the light pole area. trolled around there for a bit with no hits so I braved the weather and went over to freeway bay and caught two small wipers pretty quick.
Then my buddy Kenny came out and brought the sunny calm weather with him so we headed back out to the light pole area and still couldn't get a bite so we headed from there towards the island and found the honey hole. within two hours we boated 4 walleye, 5 wipers and many long line releases.
we caught all of are fish on the planer boards with deep divers in black back and blue back in 10-14 ft of water.
figured out my new fish finder, ran the motor and caught some fish. pretty good first day out on the water.
sorry about the cooler shot, it was to cold when we went in at 4 also, to cold for the hero shot.

Yep, I tried WB Saturday morning also. Did not have the same results these others did. I got to the south marina about 6:55, and it was fairly calm. I had been worried about rain and T Storms but had seen a "hole" in the dark clouds that looked like it was centered over WB, so I headed out.

Got on the water, about 300 yards past the south marina buoys, was getting set to try out the new planner board I bought. And felt a pretty hard wake from behind me. Though it had been a big boat, but had not heard it, turned around to see what was up. WOW, WIND was up ! Told myself, nope, not going to get any worthwhile fishin done in that, so headed back in to the marina. Tied up to the dock for awhile hoping the wind would die down once the sun came up good. No such luck. Several boats bigger than me and a good size Pontoon boat came back in as well.

Don't know how fast the wind was blowing, but it was raising white caps in the marina at times. Sat in my truck awhile, drank coffee, helped a couple guys in a little 12' Lowe that the motor wouldn't stay running get tied up. About 10:00 decided to pull my boat out, and fished from the bank awhile. About 11:30 thought about taking a drive to Benson marina, see if maybe the mountains were blocking that west wind. Got to the WB north exit and it looked quite calm. So pulled in to the north marina, launched the boat again. Ran into Wiperhunter2 and another gentleman in the boat prep line. Nice on the water for several hours. Was able to get in some experimentation with my new Offshore Planner. It ran just like the instruction videos said it should. Of course I was probably running too slow or too fast or to shallow or too deep or with the wrong lure. Got nothing, zip, zilch. But about 4 hours of nice weather on the water.

Hard to see in the photo, but there is a planner out there.
Guess I'll try again next week when the weather is supposed to be much better.
P.S. Happy Mother's Day to all you Lady BFT'ers out there.

Met up with Tony (fishnfool) and drank coffee and worked the light pole as he stated. I couldn't have been happier with the end result but I wish I would have had the same success when I was in my boat. LOL! It was completely awesome to get out and boat some fish. I even hooked up with a wiper and didn't even know it till I looked out the back of the boat and my planner board was 500 yds behind us. Still landed that bad boy though. Loved it Tony and can't wait to do it again. Next time the boat ride is on me.

Yea, North, West, whatever. Lots of it from whatever direction it came from.
