Wacky senko problem.
#1
I understand if you rig a senko in the wacky style, you are talking one fish per lure. The hook rips through the senko and the lure is cut in half.

Now thats an expensive habit. Appearantly its a super effective method though.

However, there is a cure for this. I understand if you get a O-ring and roll it into the middle of the senko, then put your hook beteween the O-ring and the senko, the senko and O-ring stay in tact, and you can use one lure all day.

However, my particualr stock of senkos include whites, browns, greens, and other colors that do not blend with a black O-ring.

A black O-ring in the center of a white senko just doesnt look right.

So, my question is, has any one seen O-rings in small diameters in any other color than black?

I have been able to avoid buying any fishing tackle at a craft store, but this may be the thing that gets me shopping for fishing supplies in a craft store. I am not sure they have them, but I figure if anyone does, its probably them.

Can anyone keep me out of the craft store? Any info would be great.

Any of you senko guys got a tip?

Whoa, Nellie! I thought a Senko was a spring toy that goes down stairs, alone or in pairs! [Tongue] Man, I can't help you on this one!

[cool]Hey, Predator, a couple of the sharper tools in the box down here just take a small spool of light clear leader material...4# or so...and wrap three or four loops around the Senko in the middle, with a plain old overhand knot. Works on any color and cheaper than O rings.

I just started using senkos back in the middle of june . So I'm just a rookie at it . I did try a black o-ring fishing wacky style and had a good hit at Jordanelle , but I lost the whole senko with that hit and left my hook bare . I agree they are good for one fish . Not to sure if the o-ring is a sure bet for keeping your bait , but could of been my luck . I only tried it a few times this year , but will give a good try next year . I seen some different senkos for this but can't find the web site now , but they had a section I would call a T- handle and you installed the hook thru it . It was about a 1" section in the middle of a regular senko like worm that tee'd off from it . It boasted about it holding up better but I can't remember what brand or the web site . Other colors of o-rings I haven't found yet in that size .

Hey Predator, Caterpillar has yellow o-rings.
But they cost more than a senko.
How about a small piece of heat shrink tubing? Harbor freight has heat shrink in different colors. You could put a small section over the hook and senko, then heat it down tight at home and have a few rigged up in your box.
Or, find someone with really bad teeth and take them to the orthodontist. He might give you a bag of those little rubber bands for braces, just for bringing in a new customer.

Good luck,

I'm with TroutBob. I doubt the fish will care. But the orthodontist rubber bands is a good idea. Probably even cheaper than O-rings!!

I have never fished a Senko so take this for what it's worth. I read somewhere that if you use super glue and put a little bit on by the eye of the hook before you put it on it's supposed to help. It also said that you can use the super glue to actually repair the jigs so they will last longer. Again, like I said I have never tried it but you were asking for ideas so here you go.

I have an answer for you. Go to a Target or other store with a large hair supply aisle. Look for the smallest rubberband hair ties you can find. They are small like the braces rubberband ,but they come in all colors. You might have to wrap it twice, but it works great. I also use them for my crankbaits. I secure the two trebbles together to make it easy to take hard baits out of my tackle box. If you have ever spent time shaking a stick bait to get it unhooked from the other ones ,you will like this tip.
