With the cold front coming in, it completely shut down the crappie so decided to find some wipers and channels.
Based my location decision on the wind. When I got there it was blowing a pretty steady SE, so headed W for some coverage.
But knowing the Bay, the wind change directions a few times and by the end of the night it was blowing directly at me. Had to anchor my poles back a little further while my back was to the water. It was quite choppy and the waves breaking onto the shore reminded me a bit when I lived off of PCH in Sunset Beach, CA. (just a tiny bit though). Anyhow, I was prepared and had cold/wet gear. Sprinkled for a hot minute but mostly windy.
Full moon and the clouds went away, it was nice and lit everything up. But the wind didn't let up, it got worse with the tide rising and left about 1AM.
Managed 2 super carps, biggest I've seen this year. 7 wipers (kept one, the others were about 14"-17") and 3 channels. Excuse the bloodiness and red. They got beat around pretty good on the stringer with the wave breaks.

That is some hardcore fishing. You certainly earned your catch, congrats.
What did those mondo carp bite on. I need to catch some for bait. A Utah lake trip is in the near future.

Sad that we didn't get down there at the same time as you, but your help with the setup worked perfectly and I was able to get that first wiper for my wife !

Last week was worst, wind and rain. Ended up till 4AM. I've fished into the night 16 hrs straight a few times last year and recently this year on the ice at pineview. I enjoy the peace, calm, and silence. Especially that there is a full moon out. It's nothing better. Just grab a few of those glow sticks at the dollar store. 15 in a pack I believe. Electrical tape one to the tipe of your rod and your money for the night.
Carp, wiper, and channels all on the magical mussels. And yes, from the shore as usual. They were easily near/over the 30" mark and filled with eggs. As you know, close to shore. I'll take a pic of the next one I catch. Both of them were fat and most likely filled with eggs.

Yup, from the shore. Wipers won't quit for a while. From the past few years of fishing Willard. I catch them consistenly till the ice comes back on. Just got to know where to find them.

Oh - mussels, right. I was having a little Trip to Wonderland there for a minute. "Whooooo Rrrrrrr Youuuuuu!"
You must be imaging the PCH a bit much - tide? Really now?! Kidding - I know whatcha mean - camped the north camp one spring, and man that night wind and waves slapping the rocky shore. It was hard to tell the difference between a bit and just wind whipping my tips.
You got the number dialed in on that station. Still love to come pick your knogged someday. Though - I might wait for a wee bit fairer weather. I did brave my own rain and wind blasts this weekend.

That was one cold, windy storm last night, but it didn't seem to last long. When I got called In to work it was medium cold and calm, so if you survived that initial blow that was dragging clouds down from the mountaintops at sunset last night, the rest should have been just wind.
You are sure on em. I am gonna give one more try tomorrow afternoon, before I start my 7x 10-12 days at work- week.
