White Bass Running Yet?
#1
Hey folks,

I'm looking to get my girlfriend in on some fast and furious white bass fishing at Utah Lake. With the crazy weather, I'm unsure if I should drag her out to the lake just yet. Do any of you know if they have moved into the creeks and harbors for their annual spawning run yet? As I recall Mother's Day is about the right time...?

Thanks in advance!

[#0000FF]Not even walking.

The white bass population is way down, since winter before last. Big dieoff, poor food and poor spawning. There were some that made it fine in some areas of the lake so it is not devoid of white bass. And it won't take long for them to come back strong.

Not many being caught anywhere so far. Water temps have stayed cold. The lake is usually staying over 60 degrees at night by now but it has stayed in the mid 50s with these cold storms. The white bass "get busy" at about 65 degrees.

[#0000FF]Well, if you can find a way to keep her arms busy for another week or two there should be some better chances for fishing success. We are overdue for warm temps and whitie whackin'. The fish are probably more eager than the fishermen. Their tummies are full of spawn stuff. So as soon as the water temps get there so will the fish.

my son and i have caught 15-20 wipers this year so far.
they were up in the channel earlier although i think that whole scene is dying off now.
we have been catching them out on the lake trolling in deep water lately. just FYI.

[#0000FF]Talkin' about white bass in Utah Lake.

In good years a 200 fish day is no great shakes. But you don't wanna keep that many unless you got 10 other people to do the filleting.
