Thinking about heading to Starvation next week. Are they doing any mussel inspections? Plan on remote camping and do not plan on going into the camping area.
Todd - PM me any info if you have any. [sly]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#800000][size 3]It doesn't matter where you launch or camp. If you put ANY type of water craft on ANY body of water in Utah, you MUST certify the decontamination prior to launch. Whether or not a mussel inspection is being done at a certain body of water is irrelevant.
If you have a watercraft in the water, then legally you need to have a certificate in plain view on the dash your vehicle and one on board the watercraft.

10 - 4 Thanks for the info.
Does anyone know if there is anyone at the ramp to do an inspection?

If you take the online course, you should be able to do your own. Its not that hard. If you are second guessing yourself, then don't put the boat in at all.

The only reason I asked is because when I got into Hite late at night and did a self certification the ranger gave me abunch of grief for not going through the inspection station the next day.
I guess I will take the online course.

Lake Powell has its own requirements regarding mussel certification and decontamination since it is not run by the state park and as you discovered, a self-certification is not sufficient. For Starvation and any other state parks or for any other Utah body of water, a self-certification will be sufficient unless you show up at the boat ramp with a very visible infestation, then a quarantine/decontamination will be required for your vessel. Have fun taking the online course!
