Question on a possibly fictional regulation
#1
I thought I read something a few years back that the use of marker buoys was not allowed on utah water for fishing. However, upon reading the guidebook again, I couldn't find what I thought I read previously. And it seems you can purchase buoys where tackle is sold.

So, does anyone know if they are allowed or not?

I've seen them in several boats, and in the stores like Sportsman's and Cabelas, but never can remember seeing them in use at any of the places I've been. Course, it maybe that I've not been where they were being used............ I know, not much help. Sorry

Have no idea where you heard or read that, but they are totally legal. Have used them a few times while trolling.

I don't either. Sometimes things just pop in there. But I'm glad I was wrong!! They should help tremendously this season. Thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah - and as a Utah Angler you're obligated to collect any marker buoys you see littering our waterways. Never mind that boat with planer boards headed your direction, they're probably just coming to pick up the trash too.

<joke! Except I've had this happen - had to holler somebody down to LEAVE IT ALONE!
Some people's kids!>

Now dropping Xmas trees in a lake, I dunno...

I think there is a law on the books for buoy's but it's for the larger ones , back in the day my dad and others would put out buoy's made from barrels to mark fishing holes . they would place them there so they could line up on their spots. I know there is no law against temporary marker buoy's
