So I will be going up north to see my folks this weekend and have Friday off, and am hoping to get a good day of fishing in. I will be in a tube. I was curious where you all think the best place would be. It sounds like Willard is doing the best, and Pineview may be heating up soon. I haven't heard anything about Mantua. I will be in my tube, and will likely be using my spinning gear. I am for sure going to be targeting warm water species. One challenge I have is that I won't be able to buy any new fishing gear. I do have various jigs, cranks, spinners, and plastic worms/senkos, as well as various types of hooks for live bait fishing. What do you guys think?

Guys were catching 30-40 crappie each from the bank in the Willard North Marina yesterday. I saw folks launch boats, move them out 75 yards and anchor right there. The water is mostly 6-ft deep anywhere in the west half of the marina, less than that in the east half. A black and green or black and chartreuse jig 3-ft under a bobber is all you need.

Willard it is then! Out of curiosity does anyone think senkos or spinnerbaits might work too?

There are smallies in the Bay and their spawn is on now, also. You can also find the occasional wiper inside the marina - and lots of them just outside. Both are quite willing to smack a white spinnerbait. (In fact, spinnerbaits may be a "secret weapon" on wipers. Don't tell anybody, though!)
I forgot to mention this: Saturday is the Grand Reopening of Willard, with free admission. That means huge crowds. The North Marina will be closed to boat launching, but you could still put a tube in the water from the east/south side of the marina - if you can find elbow room. The South Marina will be doubly nutso as the only place to launch a boat that day. I'd avoid the South one.
