Shoutout to Tubedude
#1
This is my first post and I just wanted to say hi. None of you know me yet, not even Tubedude who I'm giving a shoutout to but I have been reading this forum for quite some time and just kind of playing on the sidelines.

The story goes that I've been having a really tough time catching fish this year for some reason. I've normally just always fished from the shore for various species with fair success most the time. This year I invested in a kick boat and have been using it any day the weather allows. A few weeks back I saw a post from tube dude on how to jig fish. I downloaded it but never read it. Well last night I decided to sit down and read it through. What a great story! And the knowledge inside of it is incredible, you can really tell he's put the time in to learn how to fish.

So tonight on my way home from work I hit the trusty bait shop, picked up a couple red jigheads, charteuse twisters and headed to the lake. Almost right away I hooked onto a little fish that turned out to be a crappie, which is actually the first crappie I've ever hooked. I ended up catching a couple other crappie tonight in the little time I had to fish and lost a fair few others. It's funny because I've fished the same spot for my entire life catching nothing but largemouth, catfish and white bass, fishing similar baits as tonight even.

Anyway, long post (with no pictures [Tongue] )but thanks Tubedude! I'm sure it's not the last time I'm going to be stealing some of your knowledge. Nice to meet everyone!

"thanks Tubedude! I'm sure it's not the last time I'm going to be stealing some of your knowledge."

[#0000FF]You cannot steal what is freely offered. Anyway, the official fisherman's term is "accommodated". That's what we call it when we "borrow" a lure from some other guy's tackle box and then somehow forget to put it back. Or, when my wife takes over something of mine it is "missusappropriated"

Glad you found something of use in my written ramblings. And glad you got some instant gratification from the fishies. Hope you continue to expand your horizons.

Hey welcome to the forum and I think a lot of us have enjoyed gleaning knowledge from TD he's a valuable teacher that is always more than willing to share. I know he saved me a lot of mistakes on my toon design and helped me figure out how to troll for catfish on Cutler both of which I'm very grateful for. Nice post and welcome to the board. Later J

Trolls - coming out from under the bridge... nyuck.

Plus the Dude takes a lot of purdy pictures. Both on and off the waters.

Might wanna look into that Tackle-Swap he's lining up. He pours some good lead-heads.

Welcome aboard (not you Jeff - you're an old-timer!)

Thanks for the welcome...

Good night out at Lindon Boat Harbor. The wind was blowing like crazy, couldn't catch anything on the calm harbor side. Jumped over the dike and started a slow reel letting the waves bring the jigs in and started nailing the white bass. Fun night catching some little guys while the catfish pole laid lifeless....

I need to say thanks to Tubedude as well. I also have learned a ton form his posts. In fact last weekend on my first trip to Willard and Mantua I have a manila folder in my truck with prints off of maps and tips from this website and most of them are from Tubedude. Never meet you man but thanks a ton!!

I think that there are a lot of folks that should be grateful for all the knowledge that TubeDude has shared with us over the years. He obviously knows what he is talking about and very generous to share. He has been a great help to me with his many suggestions and experience of fishing with many types of tackle. The thing is, he fishes for almost any species at many different locations. That makes him a valuable resource for a lot of different types of anglers.[Smile]
