I have had a goal to catch all the game fish in Utah. I am only have three left to go now (tiger musky, golden trout, striper) after this last weekend. We trolled for five hours and tried a little drift fishing. Drift fishing did not give us any fish. Our goal was a wiper to knock of the bucket list. A friend and I caught 12 fish, 6 wiper, 2 walleye, and 4 catfish all trolling. Let the smaller wiper go kept 3 and both walleye and a catfish. The wiper put up a great fight. The first one I caught was 21 inches and I thought I snagged the bottom until he started taking the drag. Great day probably won't go to Willard again this summer because it is to dang hot.

Good luck on the golden trout as i am not sure they are still considered as being a part of Utah game fish as I have not heard of anyone catching any for a number of years and the lakes they used to are no longer pure but cross breeds....prove me wrong please as it would be a goal of mine to land one of those as well as it is one left on my bucket list. Was planning on going to the winds to get mine.

I have caught Golden Trout up in the Uinta range near Trial lake before, hiking some of the small streams and such up above to some other lakes. Last time I caught one had to be about......oh.... six years ago. due to my young one being ten this year, may have been 5 years. But it was goldie none the less. a trophy nine and half inch goldie about 40 yards up the trail from Trial lake towards Lily in the small stream you can step over.
they are there. go find em. they are small, but sure are pretty fish. maybe i can find a pic someplace... TTFN.
