Catfish Contest - Standings

I'll load the summary graph here. Team North has a total of 146.5, while Team South rides in at 142.0 - for the top 5 cats posted.
gmwahl has the individual lead of 88.5 points, and the biggest cat with a 32" Northern Whopper. Boatloadakids is putting up a good fight for the south with his 85 point total (top 3 fish each).

I won't mention the overall total points
(1) the south doesn't need that kind of embarassment
(2) it's not one of the "scoring" values

Hey, it ain't over yet... but gotta admit gmwahl's 32 incher is lookin' pretty tough. The two best months are yet to come... Sept. was my best time last year.

We put is a good morning session today. Best cat was a 27 incher taken by Catnipper. The carp were lousy and were a real nuisance. There were carp clusters in every place we fished today.... hard to keep a line in the water without a carp cruiser snagging the lines. We plan to put in a morning session for cats on Monday and then I'll unleash the crew on carp with their bows... there are some real pigs out there. Shooting into a carp cluster is as close as you can come to shooting fish in a barrel. Fun to watch.

Nice job on the summary Yote... appreciate ya. Stand by for some serious bumping of scores.... southern scores that is.

Seriously though, this is a challenging time to target the biggest ones. The heat is really making them hole up a bit more. I've been doing pretty good for cats up to 28", but the big boys are either spawning or guarding babies now and it pretty much takes dancing the bait right on their noses to get them to come out of their holes and grab it. So far I suck at putting it right in their face!

September is going to be the month to do it. Watch out boatloadakids, I'm not going down without a little struggle and some really fun smack talking![]

I couldn't remember how big the Carp was I had submitted. If I had remembered it was only 24", I would have measured and photo'd one or two from last trip my son and I did up the Bear. I'm pretty sure I had one in there that was at least 27 or better.
