Fished deer creek Saturday and caught quite a few largemouth and smallmouth. All the largies were over 12 inches and smallmouth 6 to 10 inches. Kept a limit of smallmouth for dinner and released all the largemouth . 6 small bass make plenty for 2 people. I really wish the bass could get some more size in the lake. people say the bass are stunted but most of the smallmouth had crayfish in their bellies and were fat. Sure don't seem like there starving.
If u like to eat bass keep a limit of fish under 12 inches and release the big ones for future catching.

Hey there!
I have never targeted bass, and I have been dying to give it a whirl. Mind sharing any tips? I do have a 14ft john boat, but if shorefishing is an option i'll take that too.
I'll be more than happy to take some limits of small smallies out of the lake!
Thanks,
Jonathon

Just take some jigs or crankbaits and work the shorelines that have some good sized rocks on them. About softball sized or larger will hold more fish than the spots that are little more than just one inch sized gravel.

Those are good looking fish. As
far as smallies? I haven't fished DC for 10 years and it seems like the size hasent changed. I would like to see DC the way it was 20 years ago. Decent trout and perch all over the rocks.

Learn to texas rig and drop shot plastics. Smaller size plastics work better at deer creek due to the average size of the bass. Fish near rocks described by the other poster in this thread. Most fish are coming from right off the shore to 10 feet out. Fish in the early morning or late afternoon. Oh yeah, a popper fished in low light will spank the smallies too.
