Moving to Alaska
#1
BFT Community,

I'm moving to Alaska in a couple months and I am wondering if any of you are transplants from Alaska or go to Alaska a lot? If so, what forum do you use to get up to date and good fishing reports? I'm trying to find a forum like BFT for Alaskan anglers but I am having difficulty doing so. On BFT the last post under "Alaska Fishing General" was like August of last year. BFT is awesome here in Utah but elsewhere...not so much!

The threads on BFT have given me a wealth of information over the last couple years and I appreciate all of you who are so willing to share your knowledge and expertise, especially to those of us who are "new" to the game. I have come to this forum often and consider it a valuable resource as I try to become a better angler. Thanks to all!

Good luck in AK! Would love to live there in the summer, but 6 mos. of dark in the winter would have me nibbling my front sight!

Oh you poor poor soul![Wink] Pretty sure you'll get the 1st ice fishing of the season in well before we do.

Peace be with you in the land of fish, snow, and bears! Toss us a report from AK every once and a while.

Consider the Alaska Fish and Game for the area your interested in, ie. central, south, Kenai, Kasilof, etc.

Where you headed? Alaska is very big but I also use Alaska F&G plus local knowledge and reports. Headed to POW island in 5 days and have gotten 2 reports from locals in the past week. Not too hard to get information within Alaska when up there.

forums.outdoorsdirectory.com is an awesome resource for hunting/fishing/camping/whateveroutdoors in Alaska! You are a lucky dog, I love it up there and am working on convincing the wife that we are moving up there after I finish up law school.

Albinotrout is right, you might be the one to get the BFT Alaska board going. There were only a few of us that got the Utah BFT forum going[Smile]. Good luck in the far North.
