First time posting... long time fishing - met DuBob at the cleaning station who encouraged us to get signed up - Thanks DuBob!
Hit the Berry about 8:30 and what beautiful morning it was. Decided to fish the Soldier Creek side and we took our Mom with us from Mesa to see if we could catch some kokes. She remembers catching 8-10" kokes as a youth up on Lake Pend Oreille in N Idaho.
We trolled across from the marina about 500ft from the rocks on the other side. Trolled in a circle that went down closer to the dam then over towards the narrows, back up towards the marina then around again. In all we caught 16 cuts, 3 bows and 9 kokes. Most of the cuts were nice a 17-18", the bows only 10-12" all were released (of course) since we were after kokes. The kokes were all 18-20" and between 1lb 14 oz and 2 lbs 9 oz. Most were caught between 50-55 ft,, 1.3 mph, using a melon squid tipped with maggots behind bahama mama dodger.
Mom now has pictures that will knock her relatives' socks off when she travels to Idaho this Saturday!
