Pineview dock Nazi's
#1
Hey everyone,
Has anyone else been having issues with the retired couple working the Port ramp launch dock at Pineview? Not the folks that meet you when you drive in, but the two that work on the slips. It seems lately that they've been getting a little carried away with their assumed power, and are targeting fishermen in particular.
I was coming back in from a long day of fishing in the hot sun yesterday. As I got close to the wakeless buoys, I slowed down to wakeless speed and proceeded to a temporary slip. The next thing I know this guy is yelling at me to slow down and giving me the slow down gesture with his hands. As I said, I was already wakeless, so I wasn't sure what his issue was, so I blew him off. Then he really starts to holler and I lost my cool and fired some expletives his way. Not the best way to handle it, I know, but I couldn't help but note that the water in the whole launch are was white capping from all of the rec boats, and he was yelling at me for being wakeless in a wakeless zone? When I came back to get my boat and put it on the trailer, I noticed that his wife (I assume) was writing my hull number down, and he was on the phone. I half expected to get pulled over on the way home, but nothing happened. Now I am expecting an issue the next time I go to launch. They were also yelling at one of my buddies in his boat yesterday too, and I've heard other fishermen complaining about them. I'm thinking of filing a complaint with their employer, so I would be interested in anyone else's experience. Thanks, Fred.

Some people can let power go to their heads. It's best to do as they say and move past it. I know that it can be hard to do but rise above it. Their intentions are good even if their actions could use some improvement.

yup those nazi's have been harassing me on a few occasions. what ticks me off is he has yelled at me and then i come back and see guys doing the same thing he yelled at me about but he isnt saying anything. If you are gonna harass me then stick to your guns with everyone, not just fisherman.

Sorry to hear about your run in with them, I am sure i will get harassed again.

[#800000][font "Comic Sans MS"][size 3]Fred,

You are not alone. It's my understanding that the guy you're talking about has one job, and one job only; to keep the rental slot docks repaired. He is NOT there to manage anything other than his own repair work.

The Port Ramp managers (Tom & Nancy) have been getting a bunch of complaints about this fellow and his antics (such as you just described). The managers are NOT happy with the performance of the dock repair person nor his harrasment of clients such as yourself. The situation will not change unless, and until, you and others like you actually DO start calling AL&L and lodging complaints about this neanderthal.

You really need to call AL&L.

Everyone needs to complain about this ass! He shouldn't be anywhere near PV reservoir. He has a god complex really bad. Like was said nothing will be done unless a lot of us voice our concern. My complaints have already been sent on more than a few occasions. Also directed at AL&L. They have some less than desirable employees also but also some of the best people I have ever met too. Don't just talk, do!

Complaining to the proper authorities is the first place to start. However, what's we really need to do is get rid of AL $$ and leisure and get it under the state. Pine view is a rip off in my book. I won't go up there due to so many knuckle heads.

I would love to see PV put under the control of the State of Utah. I don't see that ever happening though.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your input. I just sent an email to AL&L with a link to this thread. Hopefully someone there will have a talk with this guy and get him to take it down a notch. Pineview can be such a mess at times, and I fully understand, and agree with, the need for rules and regs. However, it just seems like this guy is getting carried away with things. I mean really..... how much more wakeless than wakeless can you get? Thanks again, Fred.

Pete, I would really enjoy hitting it with the variety of species available, however, with the lice, extra costs, etc, I will just go different places. Maybe when I retire out fully, get a season pass, might make it worth it

But is a season pass gonna do you any good there? Not a state park, right? Separate fee - is it $15 to launch? Maybe there's different ports, I haven't been up there much at all, though I'd like too.

But maybe not if this bozo is worse than Barney!

What's that email address? Maybe if you post it, or a phone number of AL&L then others can voice their "opinions" or complaints too.

So one bad apple and all AL&L are Nazis? Very interesting. I have to say we fish PV a whole lot and camp at Anderson Cove and I can tell you for a fact that all the hosts we have met are very kind and understanding including will do what they can to help others out. Tom and Nancy at the port ramp are awesome. Same with Anderson Cove Camp Ground Carla, Rick, Cathy, Sharon, Ed, Marie etc. These folks too put up with a lot of crap from the public so before everyone goes lambasting and coloring all AL&L as being NAZIS step back and don't let one bad apple color your vision The biggest issue we have is with the rec boaters and their lack of situational awareness.

A state park annual pass is no good at Pineview. You can buy an annual pass from AL&L, however. It might be worthwhile if you fished Pineview a lot - say, 15 times a summer. As we know, there's no fee required from about Oct 1 until March 1.

Agreed the pass is well worth it for us anyways as we've already had it paid for. So basically we are fishing PV for free now as I see it.

Next, they actually start charging the first weekend in May. They will continue charging until the end of October. As at the Port Ramp all the boats have to be out of the slips.

Also FYSA to launch at Cemetary Point will cost you more. The town of Huntsville has put up a toll both and are charging $5 to access and launch or even picnic day use. Then the next booth is the fee of $12 or I beleive $8 day use. So a total of $17 to launch one water craft or just $13 day use. Lawyers are now involved...nuff said.

Anderson cove campground will not allow folks to launch boats on weekends as they have the folks camping with boats and the parking lot is small and limited to campers with boats. However during the beginning of the week and up till Thurs they will let boats launch if they have room. Very understandable as we camp there and in the past haven't had anywhere to park our boat.

So this is the scoop on PV launching. Again 99% of AL&L folks will bend over backwards to help...just keep that in mind one bad apple will be anywhere one goes in life...to judge all as the result of one maybe twos actions well put the shoe on the 99% of the good and don't focus on the one being the entire population is my recommendation.

k2 - you are right and thanks for the voice of reason, the camp hosts have been great and until this year have had nothing but great interactions with all of them. We shouldnt let the actions of 1 person ruin a solid reputation of others. As has been stated in the posts and replies the issue has only been with 1 specific employee. I couldnt agree more that they have to put up with a lot, from drunks to disrespectful folks.

Never had any trouble with any of the AL&L employees. But have not been to PV in 3 or 4 years. Came too close to being run down by a large party boat (maybe a 28-30 footer) that was running flat out, no skiers or toy riders being pulled, just burning holes in the water. And I was accross the no wake bouy line going towards the dam. I couldn't get his hull number, and all I could do was report the type and approx size and color of the boat. Weber County deputy at the Port Ramp said he would do what he could. Have no idea where it went from there, and I've never been back. And the fact that I can't use my Annual State Day Pass was another factor in not hitting PV anymore. Costs too much $$ for the priviledge of being near run down, and pretty well swamped by a wake that was bigger that my boat. Put PV under the control of the State, and get more or at least better Ranger patrols on the water, and I'll consider going back.

I put Pineview in the same category as Strawberry. Access is over charged and they do not recognize the federal pass. I purchase a Federal pass for Powell and the Gorge, but both Pineview and Strawberry do not recognize them, so you pay through the nose for access. To many other better fishing sites to have to deal with the aggravation at PV and the Berry, plus the cost. Don't understand why they play by different rules.
