Strawberry was a zoo Saturday
#1
Strawberry had more boats than I have ever seen Saturday. We fished the Strawberry Bay side... mostly between the entrance to the narrows, up to Sage Hen, then across to the entrance to Mud Creek.

We caught 18 cutts and 2 rainbows. The cutts were all slot, with four at 20". The rainbows were little guys. That's a slow morning for us.

We couldn't find the Kokes in the crowd of boats.

I agree that is the most boats I have ever seen trying to find the kokes. We gave up after about 3 hours, and not seeing anyone else catch one either, and went after the rainbows and cutts. It took a few moves to find them but then we did quite well vertically jigging and casting and bouncing back to the boat.

Why do you think it was so crowded?

Because of all of the recent reports of great koke catching.

There running a tag fish contest up there they tagged a bunch of Bows for prizes. Im sure there are some just for the Kokes but IMO I think its the fishing contest.

bet that kokanee seminar at the dwr has something to do with the crowds - i know it motivated me to get some downriggers to get after them.

hows fall fishing at the berry? my favorite time of year on the water - be my first fall in Utah

The Kokanee fishing has another month or two then they will hit spawn and it's over.

Trout fishing in the fall on The Berry has been excellent for me over the past couple years.

Glad I'm retired and fish during the week. Took my grandson up last week Monday and there were only two other boats that had launched before us at Renegade. We did okay.

I agree there were a ton off boats on the berry Saturday ,probably partly my fault, we got on the lake a little late and had some remote troll problems but managed about 12 really nice kokes, and about the same on cuts, didn't see many people catching, fish for about an hour over on solider creek caught 3 over there and was surprised by the size , a record kokanee could come out of there this year.
