New 2015 Lund Crossover XS on the way
#1
Well, I made the plunge, thanks for all the inputs from my previous post.

I decided to go with the Lund, based upon feedback in regards to reliability and how others have enjoyed theres, also a big factor was the resale value that Lund is known for.

I loaded it up, figured might as well get what I want cause it will be the one I will definetly keep for awhile and have many memories (good ones) along the way I am sure.

The only thing I left off, that now I think I will go back and add on .... is the kicker motor, while I have not done any trolling per say for fish because mostly I am a Bass, Crappie, Perch, Catfish person .... but I think I need to open up my horizons and go for the trout and kokanee also.

Gonna be about 4 weeks before I get it because the factory is closed this week for year change over and then 3 weeks to build/deliver .....

Looking forward to the maiden voyage, thanks again for all the feedback ... and more is welcome here also

I love the new Lund Crossovers. Love the new color schemes this year. What size motor ? Inboard or outboard ? Just my opinion as a past and present Lund owner, if you got a 115 to 200 HP 4 stroke OTBD, you will already be carrying quite a bit of weight in the stern. Maybe try a bolt on Hydrofoil with trolling plate first ? Alot less $$, (unless that's not a problem) and of the total time on the water you will find a good % of it you won't be trolling. When you aren't trolling, that extra kicker motor is really un-necessary weight, especially when you are using the boat for water recreation like skiing, pulling water toys etc.
I had a 115 HP Merc on my first Lund 1700 Pro Sport, and a Hydrafoil trolling plate. When I needed to get up on plane and move, the foil was a great stabillizer and trim aid, and when I wanted to troll, I dropped the trolling plate and even with that bigger motor, I could slow troll all day between about .7 and 3.5 mph.
But, just my 2.5 cents worth. Have fun in that new Lund. I know you will love it, how ever you rig it.

Only one more question........What is the FIRST thing you do after you buy a new boat.........................

Take it home and start drilling holes in it....[laugh].

Yes the colors are awesome, and just the way the boat is laid out was nice .....

As for the motor I got a Merc 150 4Stroke, will have to wait and see how she handles before making any changes to the motor dynamics. As far as the trolling plate I think that would be another good discussion topic, that I will add to the forum.

And you are so right about drilling holes in the boat soon after delivery

Regarding a kicker motor - one thing to consider is having an extra motor if you are taking the boat to less traveled waters, or are on water that you want to make sure you have power. On my Lund 1700 Fisherman, I added a Merc 9.9 kicker mainly for reliability, secondly to use it for trolling. I have a troll plate on my 115 Merc, but find I can troll more effectively with the 9.9 using a Troll Master controller (a pretty cool add on). I prefer to not run the 115 at slow speeds for long periods.

Thanks MTBob ... several people have mentioned nice to have that backup just incase the big boy decides not to run that day ...

I am going to have it rigged with all the controls right next to the main controls for the big motor

OK So how much for the Fisher you are letting go? I bet we can get more than what the trade in offer is. I'm a player.

It has already been traded in as part of the pkg .... I picked up the boat rather cheap, and was able to get 5 figures out of it on the trade in ... so life is good, and I got what I believe to be a good discount (2 digits) off the MSRP price of the boat

You will love that boat/motor combo. That Merc is an awesome motor.
I bought an 1875 Impact last year with that motor at a dealer in Hayden. It was a 1400 mile round trip and I took them my trade in. They were very good to me.
I now wished I would have bought the Crossover, although the Impact is an awesome fishing platform my wife finds it a little lacking in the comfort department.
One thing, bargain with your dealer for a Tempest Plus prop.
