Been out busy making people famous and now I have some time to get caught back up. Any updates on how the fishing has been would be grateful.
Anybody of water in Utah. Planning to take a week just to fish. It's been ummm.. at least 2 1/2 months.
Getting geared up to hit Willard Freebay in a few to see what's going on .
Anyhow, any news would be good news to me
Thanks,
Gumby

Fishing is starting to pick up from what I've seen... Willard isn't hot, but reports are getting better out there... Bass are starting to hit so amatures like me can catch a few... Cat's are still on the bite, Kokes sort of ending.... Hoppers in the hills driving the troutski's nuts these days... Bear Lake is starting to show some action, so it's a good time to get back out there and try what you like best, or something new if your feeling adventuresome... Good luck.. J

Hey Gumbyk, how you been? Fishing is always great but catching at Willard is poor at best right now. Since these fronts keep coming in and the shad are showing up in huge numbers, the catching has all but stopped for wipers and walleye. Been out twice this week and only 3 fish to show for my efforts. If you do go out in this rain storm, please let me know how you do. Your shore fishing methods are better than most folks, so it will be interesting to see if the fish are still biting for you. Good luck.

Hey Curt,
Yup best weather ever. No one around, rain, wind, and my wet gear. Best conditions for me at least. Water is def stained. But I was there for a few hrs and was able to round up a couple of these things below and 3 channels before I can handle so much of the wind blowing into your face.
Not too shabby. Would have stayed longer but have to ease back into it.

I am a shore fisherman to. Would like to ask you if you were fishing the North bank?? I have been fishing the south bank around the feed lot area. Cat fishing has been good but no wipers except for the very small 6 inchers.
Gonna try the North side Sunday I think. The deeper water must be helping to gather some fish.
Congratulations on your first day out in a while..

Hey Todd haven't heard much from you lately, sounds like you are still hitting the normal spots. From the quote it sounds like he was fishing Freeway Bay.

Awesome, glade you were able to get out there and catch a few. Hard to tell from your pic, is that a 16 to 18 inch wiper?

Freeway bay. But I fish the section that runs east to west on the south side. You walk over a small wooden make shift bridge over a canal.
If your not familiar with this location. There's a map posted in the general section and I believe "fishing maps?"
Going to try the S-SW corner today and see what it's like there.
Good luck!

Yeah you know me and pictures. I really like to just fish but have to take one now and then. It was cookie cutter a little over 18. Nothing special. Time to et a go pro and work on that time lapse film. Should be interesting.
But I'm going out there again here in a few to check the SW area. Maybe bottom bounce it tomorrow but that water doesn't look too good. You'll have to uv spray your whole line just for any fish to it lol.
Let you know how I do after.

Sounds good. The only wiper I caught on Thur was caught with a KCT worm harness at 2.5 mph. We tried bottom bouncing for a couple of hours but no luck but as soon as I went from 1.5 to 2.5, fish on[ ]. I was thinking about trying your method of bait fishing if the trolling stays slow. Thanks foe confirming it is still working and good luck out there today.

Hi Kurt, Yeah I have been in my usual spots by the feed lot, plus I fish Mantua quite a bit this year. It was a good year at Mantua till the alge bloom grew in. The low water at Willard has me a bit . My spot is now only a few feet deep. That doesnt seem to bother the Cat Fish but the Wiper are not there. I have caught some Big Cats though. Seen the Turns diving and shad dimpling the surface. The Shad are also in what few rocks there are in the water. The confusing part is, where are the Wipers??? The food is here, super is served but know one has come for dinner... So I think I will move around till I find them Sunday. If your out come over and say hey. I am the bank fisherman with a bike near by.

Thanks Gumby, I know the bridge very well. Glad you got into some the other day. I will be moving around trying to find them tomorrow. Im the dude on the bike, if you see me come over and say hey.
I do think with the murky water the Wipers will be looking to the bottom for there meal. Bait is the ticket for now.[cool]

At that corner there in Freeway bay, the one with the beach, that is the deepest water in that park of the lake, other than that the SW corner and all along the West dike is deeper. There are a few spots along that West dike that are 12 to 14 ft deep within casting distance of shore, lots of folks fishing there lately.

Nice to have you back, Gumby! I've been out of commission all summer, so I got nothing for you, as far as fresh news. However, the grasshoppes are ripe, and I love to rig those on a slip and take em anywhere for trout and bass. Right now at Willard, if you slung those fellas in near the rocks the Smallies will kill eachother getting to them. Same at PV, Jordy, and DC.

Yeah freeway bay seems like the wipers are bigger around there. Thanks springbuck for the update. But I'll stick with the bait I normally use. Here's the catch for the day. Let about another 10 or so go fishing with a buddy. Wasn't the prettiest thing to see on the channel so through a filter on the image. A lot more comfortable near the SW but bigger fish along FB.
