My nephew and I went fishing today, had grand plans of taking the boat and towing the toons with us. Great idea, it just took way too long to get set up and get there. Didn't get a line in the water until 11:15, didn't catch a fish until 2:20, but it was a nice cat 25.5".Y some new areas I expected would be good, but they weren't. Went to an old favorite spot and got a few. We ended up with a 24.5", 25" and 25.5" channel, they were tanks they fought better than most of the cats I've got this summer. Got a couple other smaller fish too but ended up spending six hours for eight fish between the two of us. Fun fights today.

Good on ya Jeff. It's great to see that the cats are still biting. I'm gonna get the chance to try for them for a few hours tomorrow. I hope I don't get cursed for fishing on Sunday though!

I've never had to work so hard for a few fish. Guess if I wouldn't have been in the wrong spots for so long it would of been okay, but I'm so sunburned and dehydrated I'm not sure it was worth it, but at least I got some over 20" for a change. Good luck, but it won't be as fast as it was last time you were fishing. If it is you need to show me where to fish. Have fun. J

Thanks it was fun to go, I can't get over how hot it was. Didn't feel like the end of September. Always fun to catch nice fish even if ya have to work hard and suffer. Later J

Yup I'm feeling it this morning. The cats are really fattening up, the 25"er was really nice, just bait for the fish you catch, but still pretty for a cat. Good luck today. Later J

Good goin'! A 25ish inch cat is a nice fish. If the 25 inchers are there the 30 inchers are probably not far away. Always good to get out... of course anyone who fishes on Sunday (see above poster) should be cursed with mostly mud cats.[  ]

Hey at least ya got out, got into fish, and didn't live up to your name! Got me beat! I've been too busy putting up and shutting up - salsa, pesto, eggplant goop, beans, oh beans!
Maybe I'll get one more run before the month is up, but I'm tempted to try Hyrum, but don't think I'll find any cats there.

I was glad to find a couple nice fish, but its been too long since I got a good one. I thought these guys were going to bump my score, but I was a little disappointed when I put them on the bump board. Seemed like the 27"ers were a lot bigger than the 25 so I guess I'm getting too far out of practice.
Be interesting to see what Mike finds today, I know if it was me I'd get skunked for sure. Hope you get a good last week in. Later J

Well, I shouldn't have gone fishing on Sunday! I only got a few mudders and two teen sized channel cats. I lost my patience and headed to hyrum to do some perch jerkin'. I caught several 10" largemouths and a bunch of 4-6" perch. Kept a few for ice fishing bait and got fed up with it and went home after getting drenched. Kids had fun though so I guess so did I. Ya got me beat this month.
Time to shoot a deer and start fishing for lakers I guess.

Hey John don't be pointing out my secrets now. It was good to get out and give it a go. Good thing I had time on this trip or I would have sure ended up skunked. Got most of the fish in the last hour so it was a long dry spell to start. Hope you get a chance to get after them again, but I know you love perch too so I know you'll be struggling which way to go. So is this week the last full week of the contest? Man I need to try getting out again. There are soo many little carp lets now I think the fish are all full so its hard to buy a bite. I think it was the heat yesterday that had them biting a little better. So many carp minnows right now I'm surprised anything is biting. Guess I forgot that part of the story, got a bunch of carp minnows with my casting net at the boat ramp. They were bigger than I like, but we did catch a couple fish on them. I need to get some more while they are around and get them froze while they are still fresh. Got a few bass or walleye minnows in the batch too so I had to be careful to do a good sort job.
