Pineveiw Sunday
#1
Beautiful fall day on the lake today, I was surprised to see there were quite a few boats out today. I was also surprised to see that the docks are still connected to the shore, and usable, I hope it stays that way. Fishing action was non stop for crappie, size was not that spectacular 7 to 9", but I kept a limit, to do my part in thinning them out, hopefully others will too. Fish were caught on the north side of Cemetery Point, using a small chartreuse curly tail jig with a crappie nibble. 20 to 35 feet of water, a couple cranks off the bottom. This would be an ideal place to take some kids fishing, and get them on some fish. They are definitely getting bigger than last year, looks promising for the future.

There were some people working on the docks on Friday. I bet the ramp will be gone by next weekend.
Looks like there will be some fun action this ice season at the View.

Glad you were able to get out for some fishing at the View, any perch?
Dale and I was out there on Friday with similar results but the funny thing was after moving around to several locations, not 1 perch was caught.[crazy] Maybe we just were not where the perch were but I thought it strange. Should be a crappy ice fishing season.[Wink]

Packfan, they have closed the ramps due to low water. Parts of the north marina are high and dry. The only boats out there yesterday were a few small tin cans and my kayak.

Also very slow fishing there in the murky water.

Packfan, Willard north marina still navigable. Center of the channel going out is 6 to 8 feet. Get well past the buoys and it's 9 feet and constant slope down to 12 - 14 feet as you head south along the west wall. Still 5-7 feet between south wall and south edge of the island. Freeway Bay good 7-9 feet to within 100 yards of the edge. Water is a bit murky, maybe from all the rain a week or so ago. But the "Ramp Closed" signs at the north marina are keeping the bigger power squadron boats away for the most part.

PackFan - please go to Pv and slay some crappie! there are just to many and could use a thinning! easy to catch now and schooled up big time! took my kids and we slayed em, caught fish up to 12" most though are in the 8-11" range

Hi Pete hope the hunting season has been treating you well,
I have not Fished Willard since June, This time of year I usually fish Pineveiw, now that they stop charging and the crappie stack up, They are not huge but 20 make a meal, like Wildcat said, it is easy fishing, and it would be nice if more people would take a limit to thin them out for the good of the remaining population. Should be a good weather week. This has been a good fishing year for me on my favorite waters Willard, Porcupine, Pineveiw and the Gorge.

we nailed some crappie on saturday as plan b after chasing the tigers in the AM with no luck.....manged one perch, it was caught out in about 42 FOW ( 8-9 incher) , most of the crappies were smaller, in the 6-7 range. raking them with Ice jigs tipped with gulp. best was in 30FOW in a few different locations- couple ugly bullhead as well........all fish released.
