Pineview Tuesday 10/7
#1
After my Willard disappointment yesterday, I decided to hit Pineview today. The water was 61° upon my arrival, warming to 63° at the surface by afternoon. Dead calm all day.

I trolled a crawfish crank along the north side of Cemetery Point and had something nice on for a while. Whatever it was got tired of playing and went home. Then I tossed a pearl tube into the rocks. On my second cast, I got a nice thump and enjoyed a spirited tussle before netting this nice LMB. He went a solid 3-lbs, maybe even 3½ and taped a chunky 20"

I found that the entire stretch from Port Ramp to Cemetery Point has a spadzillion suspended crappie 24" down. Each and every one of them (or at least the bunch that I caught) are exactly 8.5 inches long. I got several doubles on a two-jig rig. It didn't matter if the jigs were tipped with Gulp maggots, Gulp minnows, or a pinch of real worm - they hit 'em all. I didn't keep any of those.

Only a few skiers and PWCs out, and they didn't show up until lunchtime.

The contractor is working to pull up the boat dock access, with a back hoe and tractor. Don't park by the side of the ramp and block their access. They said they'd write tickets if they had to.

Congrats on the pig! Those 8.5" should provide a pile of tasty tacos this winter.

He was delicious, too. Baked the filets within a couple hours of arriving home.
