Hot Morning at Lost Creek
#1
My son-in-law and I hit Lost Creek Saturday morning, and the fishing was good immediately. He was tipping wedding rings with a small piece of a worm behind a dodger, and caught over 20 cutts and rainbows. I trolled Rooster-Tails on top but didn't do nearly as good. The bite shut down to almost nothing after 10:30, which is when I finally switched over to what he was using.
The good news was some of the nicer cutthroats we caught, in the 18" class. Fat and sassy, they fought well and gave us a good time on a beautiful day. Maybe ice fishing will be good, with some bigger fish in the mix.

Sounds like a good time was had by all! Good job! I fell in love ice fishing Lost last season. There were days where they were just hitting and I was running back and forth to both rods trying to keep them on. I only caught one rainbow but he was a brute at 21", I caught him by looking down the hole and he inhaled my white tube jig. All my Cutts were between 14"-20" but most of them were pretty skinny. Hopefully some hogs come to play this ice season.

We had some nice trips this year to Lost Creek - despite the sucky road - too bad you can't keep any trout from 15" to 22" - cause those nice 18" rainbows are fat, firm, fun to catch and would be great on the grill. And to get that one over 22" might be pretty close to impossible.

Great place to get away and the wakeless speed makes it great for everyone.

I've only hit Lost on the fly once and got skunked. But I've been wanting to try little dell as well except it's one hell of a hike down to the reservoir...and back up with a toon!!

I thought you could drive down pretty close when it's open? Closed until April 1 I believe.

You can. I just assumed you wanted to try it this year. There's a little boat ramp you can launch out of. I was there Wednesday walking the shoreline by the inlet and about half way down the reservoir I finally started to see fish crusing and sipping what I believe to be midges from the surface. I almost got the skunk but I caught 2 brookies from the creek.
