Better options than steel leader

Since I'd don't spend a bunch of time fishing for pike and many of you do, what other options are out to use other than steel leader?

Simple...fluorocarbon leaders....we make our own and they work great for fish with sharp and big teefees and much better than any steel leader...

Caught 20 Pike in the last year, all on 20#fluoro. No break offs.

I know they can cut through 20 lb fluoro, but it is very infrequent if you play them well.

Like others have said, give fluoro a try. I would just add that it should be 100% fluoro ... not fluoro coated mono. That 100% fluoro is surprisingly quite abrasive resistant. However, you may want to use new leader after each toothy catch. That's what I do for tiger musky because once I get a nick in the line after catching one, I'm nervous until I change it out.

What lb test do you use?

Any favorite brands? (or specific lines for that matter)

As another mentioned they change out...we don't but will inspect leader. We use 24" on cast and 36" on troll. We do inspect leaders after a catch but have never had any issue with any leaders we make. Biggest thing is ensuring you crimp properly FWIW. Caught some big'n 49" plus largest this season was a 50.50"...
