Had a few extra hours yesterday so I grabbed my brother and our ice fishing gear and took a drive up the mountain to check the conditions. The road was nice and plowed all the way to the Soapstone gates, which were closed. And us without a snowmobile, that's where our trip ended, we were even "lucky"enough to have left our longer poles at home so we couldn't even make a stop a deer creek on the way back.

We did see that some parts of the river had ice on them, so I'd imagine anyone with the means and determination could have a good time at any of the lakes they can get to. Hope this helps someone avoid a drive for nothing!

Bring on the hard deck somewhere I can get at please!

Well nice try anyway. If only they would have tried opening the Hwy this winter, man that would have been a blast!
