Strawberry Century mark 12-10-14
#1
Wow what a day. So glad we made it up there. As some have already said today the road in was fine and the ramp was dry. Weather was beautiful when we launched at Noon it was about 45 deg. and no wind. In fact the wind did not come until about 2:30 and even at that it was not much. We fished till 4pm and in those 4 hours the 5 of us boated 100 fish. It was one of those "Epic" days on the berry. 99% of the fish were in that 18-21 inch range A couple were at the 22 mark and a couple were under 18. All cutts. And all were caught on White tubes tipped with minnow (chub) meat. We had so many on that if we could have even caught half of those we could have easily been playing with 130+

I thought two weeks ago was going to be our last outing but Sadly this one is our last of the soft water. Can not wait till next fall.

Cutts only count as 1/2 of a fish.....Just kidding! Sounds like a fun day, but a bunch of nice 'bows would have been a bonus. Something edible at least.[Wink]

100 across 5 guys. Ok, I'm not feeling too bad about my 20+ yesterday then. Took me about 3 hours to work out technical issues with the boat and then wander around and find the fish, but once I found them, it was game on over those last 2 hours. As many lost as boated.

Almost all of my fish were caught within a 80ft X 30ft area. If I drifted from that area, the bites were infrequent. Within the small zone, man, you couldn't keep them off. Is that typical of this time of year?

The bite was just a little too light for my 8 yo son to pick up on. He still boated 4 of his own. We kept the last cut he caught as it was just over 22.

That sure was nice weather! Glad I took a last minute vacation day.

I don't keep slot busters up there, but the sub slotters I've occasionally kept and eaten have been tasty, especially this time of year and through the ice. At that size most of their diet is zooplankton and the meat is nice and red, like a Huntington tiger.

I hear ya Mark. I have been up there in december trowing the tubes from a boat before but they don't come very often. The bit was light yesterday but if you missed and let it sink they usually picked it up on the fall. I sat and watched one fish hit it 5 or 6 times before I finally hooked him.

I need to go up there Ice fishing with you and Nate. Give me a call when you go.

We had a similar day today. Fished from 8:30 to 1:30. We boated 40+ between two of us.

We found a couple of rainbows in the mix of Cutts.... in fact I very nearly broke my personal Rainbow best.

I talked to a few others getting off the water with us and they all had good scores.

It was very nice early but the wind came up about 11. Not bad wind but enough to make it cold.
