Well, the wife and I finally got out to bear lake....... after the white fish run has pretty well ended. We tried over near first point as well as cisco beach for a few hours, but we were not able to get our lures out deep enough and didn't get a single bite. We headed over the the other side and fished off the rocks at the main marina, which did finally produce one nice white fish.
My wife brought in a 20" that was about 2.25 pounds. As this is our first attempt to catch these little guys, and we were a week late, I didn't feel bad about the trip at all.
Bonus for the drive, we did see 12 moose, and 7 were clearly bulls. That made it worth the time and gas alone. The fish was just an added bonus to a great sunday out of the city.

Thanks for the report, glad you made it up to big blue and weren't skunked. That is a lot of moose you saw, which way did you go, through Logan or Evanston?

A lot of fishing trips involve bull, but not always moose.
Congrats on a memorable day.

We went up over Logan and back through Evanston... Most the moose were at the higher peaks of Logan canyon.

Wow you did good on the moose, drove the canyon quite a bit and I haven't seen a moose in a long time. You must have timed that just right or I'm getting old and blind, or a little bit of both. Glad you got a whitie. Make sure you take good care of it they are delicious. Got mine out of the smoker last night and I'm a fan. Probably won't throw many of them back anymore. Think I'll return the trout and eat the whitefish. Thanks for the report. J

I have seen one maybe two moose going over the mountain above Logan but wow that is a lot of moose on one trip. Were they together in several groups or all singles?

Wow, that is amazing, makes me wonder if their numbers are increasing in that area. I really doubt there would be much poaching in that area, unless there has been a big increase in their numbers, because it is unusual, at least most of the time, to see that many near the road there.
