Small Streams
#1
This is for all those who seem to think that just because there is a Preferred board that Preferred members won't post on this board. I'll post here, in public, but the details are left out, I prefer it that way when I'm in public. I speak loudly among friends, not so much when I don't know who may be listening.

It is a nice time of year to fish the small streams, the crowds are gone, the air is crisp and the fish are hungry. If you can find some that have not iced over yet, I suggest you give them a try. I did and it was a very nice way to spend a little time.

Don't underestimate the little streams, some have undercut banks that you can fit your whole leg into and deep too. Some have lots of fish, others only one fish per hole, so be selective if you want to harvest or hit one of the bigger streams or rivers for some to cook. If you want native wild fish that work for a living, give small streams a try.

Your post makes me think of some small streams of my youth, tho the trout were brookies. Like the one in your pic. most were small but fun and pretty.

Thanks everyone. I love those colors too.

I do love the small streams, the solitude, the look on peoples faces when they drive by, you can tell they are thinking "I never knew there were fish in there", or " Ha, that guy isn't going to catch anything in that little stream"

I love being able to walk right up the middle casting into each pocket, behind each rock, up against each bank, then moving up 6' and doing it again.
I have often been very surprised at the numbers and size of fish I catch from places that many don't think hold fish.

Small streams are a blast. Definitely something I didn't have as a fishing option growing up. Thanks for the pic.

I know exactly what you're talking about with the funny looks.

You get even more when you're in the middle of town, fishing a ditch!

Gotta love a small stream with nobody around though.

Loah, yes you do. Most of us have read the adventures you have posted over the years and the great pictures. They have taken me to places I can no longer go on my own. I especially remember the one about the walleye in the culvert. Thanks

Most of the little canyon streams that run through Davis County have fish. Some more than others. [Smile]

The more popular canyons like Farmington get a lot of pressure so you won't find anything but dinks unless you get of the beaten path a bit. The middle section of that canyon has some nice holes but you'll have to work a bit to find them.

And with that I expect to see bell bottoms, tie dye, and huge Afros. Groovy and Peace.

I thought it was a cutthroat, myself.

That about runs the possibles.
I can confirm it was a fish, trout to be more exact.

I would vote with you on the cutthroat. the wild ones in the mountains look way different than the ones in Strawberry and other lakes. I am 99% sure it's not a bass.
