Scofield 12/20
#1
Headed up to Scofield with my brothers for our first (successful) trip of the ice season. As near as I can tell we were the first on the ice near the boat ramp right before 6. Talked with a gentleman for a bit at the bottom of the ramp who had been the last couple of weeks and gave us some good advice. We put it to good use saying hello to 13 Cutts, 2 bows, and 1 chub -who was luckily enough our first fish of the day and provided the majority of our bait. (Thanks to those who responded to my cut bait thread!) We were only in about five FOW and the fish were pretty evenly spaced through it. They weren't picky about which jig or bait they took either, the bite was incredibly light though, we missed a lot of potential hookups. It was nice to get out and hit the hard deck and break in the season. It was especially nice to meet this brute instead of all his long skinny cousins.

Agreed, the bite was very soft today but they were plentiful. Just an FYI I fished out in the main body away from the dam arm and the ice was not nearly as thick as the dam arm. Our ice was 4 inches at most, not the thinnest I've been on by far but just an FYI.

Nice report. Man I'm glad you got some nice ones. I typically catch the anemic rainbows and cutts at Scofield. [Wink]
