I attempted to ice fish Devil Creek and Deep Creek today but the ice was not thick enough. It was about 1" of clear ice on most of Deep Creek and Devil Creek. I could kick through the ice with my boot any place I tried on both reservoirs. Even if the ice will support my weight, I'm not going to ice fish it if I can kick through with my boot. There was also a small amount of open water in the center of both reservoirs but both were 99% ice covered.
Weston had just enough ice I would walk on it but didn't want anyone standing too close to me. Ice was about 3" thick at Weston but only 2" of it was clear solid ice. 1" of it was white frozen snow/slush. Fishing was ok at Weston but nothing to get excited about. Water level at Weston was lower than average for this time of the year. I'll post of few pictures later.
Anyone attempting to ice fish any reservoirs in SE Idaho in the near future should be much more cautious than they would normally be at this time of the year.

Good to here from you. Thanks for the report, it confirms my suspicion and confirms my gut feeling to go to Mackay yesterday instead of down south.

Was at deep creek today checking ice conditions. On the east side of the parking area the ice is 6 inches thick while chatting with a few fisherman y he ice started talking still a little sketchy but should be good for Saturday. The west side of the parking area is about 4 inches thick still people fishing it. There were probably 15 people on deep creek today.......
Devils creek ice is only 3 to 4 inches thick a friend said it's pretty sketchy still.[fishon]

Hit Devils today ice was around 5 inches . I didn't arive until 2 and the bite was on until 4. We caught around 15 planter trout. I only heard of trout being caught from the people I talked with.

My Dad, I and a friend went to Daniels today. There was a good 4" of ice. The bite was very light and we ice a handful between the three of us. Very healthy fish and averaged between about 15" to 18" in size.

It is a little late but here are some photos from the 27th.
I'm still in Texas. I have too good of a deal with my current job to leave. I was just visiting family for a few days over the Holidays and was able to go fishing with my brother for a few hours.

Any recent reports on Daniels or deep creek? A friend and I are wanting to head up from Logan tomorrow. Would be good to know if the ice is good. Thanks.
