Strawberry Ice??
#1
Hey All,
Any Strawberry ice reports?
I have a friend coming from out of town and don't want him to make the trip if the ice isn't safe.
Let alone the -8 wind chill for tomorrow!!

Thanks

My weather app says a high of 17 today and a low of -8, a high of 25 and low of 5 tomorrow. That lake is going to be putting on ice QUICK with those temps!

Hoping I'll be out there Thursday morning...

Was up there yesterday and Soldier Creek has very thin ice 2-3" and people were out fishing on it. We went to Mud Creek and the ice was very sketchy! Only 1-2" depending on the spot. With these strong winds it really shifts the ice. Please proceed with caution if fishing Strawberry anywhere! We'll be heading up again this week to find safer ice. Good luck!

The marina reported that someone fell through the ice today, so if you do go up be careful.

just a matter of time before someone goes through and gets hurt. it's not worth being the first one on the ice.

I am off of work today and decided to go check several lakes. I checked Mantua this morning so please look for that post. I am currently leaving strawberry and here is the report for the ice up here.
I drilled two holes in the bay straight out from the boat ramp by the marina 2 inches of ice and 2 1/2 inches of ice. And the wind was really really whipping up there. I drove around to the soldier Creek side, about the same over there drilled three holes at 2 1/2 inches and did not dare walk out any further.
I spoke with the people at the lodge and they said that, yes someone did fall through yesterday, but that person was okay and they recommended that people wait until this weekend or later to start truly ice fishing up there.
If you go to strawberry, please by all means do not fish alone and take your spikes with you.
