Thanks for the replies yesterday on Strawberry.
3 of us headed up this morning and here is the report.
Temperature when arrived at 10 am was 2 deg.
Temperature when departing at 5 pm was -6 deg.
Wind less than 5 mph gusts to 9-10.
Snow depth on lake 8"
Roads to CCE and Ladders plowed well.
Drove the ladders and walked out far enough to get on the ice. Did not look safe so we headed back to Chicken Creek East where we saw people on the ice.
Headed straight down to lake from the parking lot. Checked Ice 5' out it was a good 7" so we continued looking at the ice and drilling test holes.
As soon as we hit clear ice under the snow and punched a hole it was only 1.5 to 2" so we retreated and headed further East.
Could tell the difference between old ice and new ice. New Ice was clear.
Set up in 18" of water, 5" of ice and fished until 4:30.
Between 3 of us we caught between 10 and 15 nice fish including 6 rainbows and one Cut under the slot. We were using small glow ice flies, mealworms, waxworms etc.
Thanks
