Just started fishing. My new Nils 4.5 inch auger cuts through 7 inches of ice fast. No fish on sonar yet. Reading posts.

I'm watching a closeup video of an earthworm on my hook providing plenty of fish attracting motion after a walk around the harbor ice with thoughts of it being quiet at my fishing hole and perhaps running the fish over to the very active worm. Still nothing on sonar. Water clarity is poor. I'm fishing with chartreuse Gulp 2 inch minnow grub for visibility and scent with the worm for motion.

It was nice to see you out on the ice today - hope you're catching!

Not yet, but your earthworm is very wriggly to attract fish well. Thanks!
What depth were you fishing? It's nice and sunny now and feels warm. The high-tech hunting clothing was a good investment in preparedness and enjoying adventures is a plus. I took off goose down vests and the jacket. I might stay to see if there's an evening bite. I thought about camping on the ice. The sign at the shack says no camping, but I wonder if that can include in an ice fishing tent on the lake? [signature]

Perhaps the bite is back on. A new fisherman, a young boy, just caught a white bass, lost it and just lost another. But, was able to hold it for a picture that I'll email to him. I just set up a second rod with a big bright noisy XCaliber One Knocker rattle bait. My theory, not tested yet, is the murky water means scent and vibration might reach out to bring them close enough to see the earthworm wiggling. What else should I try?

I was fishing about 4" off the bottom. Anything yet? Vibration could attract them in murky water. Makes sense to me anyway.
