The ice is almost down to the highway but there wasn't anybody out on it on new years eve.

It will be interesting to see if it sticks around once the weather warms up through the week.

On a side note Echo is capped and people were out on it yesterday by the boat ramp when I drove by.

I drove by the lake and saw people fishing on the Charleston side on the ice. Not sure how thick, just an FYI. Also saw someone out in there boat too. ICE, shore, or by boat... something for everyone Wink

Thanks I went and tried it.. Ice is about 4 to 5 inches, thinner in some spots, slow action I picked up 2 small planters. Hope it gets capped this year.

I should fish there for the clarity of the water for good views on the underwater camera and the depth for the sonar to look at a wider area compared to me presently fishing in seven feet of murky water. I also want to move fast and light to find good transitions in structure and hunt the schools of fish.

Hit DC today and found some ice at the Charleston section, but not a chance getting me out on that ice. Two brave groups were way out by the RR tracks. Temp was 40 deg. Decided to hit the open water instead and did fairly well on salmon peach PB. Caught one hog at 24" brownie and three RB's at 18" and few 12-14 range. Caught a total of 9 and brought home 3 18 inchers to fry up. Had a tough decision to make, but I let the big boy go back home. Mostly hitting salmon peach PB, got a couple on rainbow PB. Caught these late in the afternoon just before dark. Had a great day with my son!

Nice! With the warmer weather this week I would think there would be a spot to put a pontoon on the water.
