Fun Day on Grantsville Ice
#1
A fun ice fishing day on Grantsville reservoir. We were hunting Browns, but we ended up hooking up about 20 Rainbows. A great place to test your ice equipment close to the valley. There was 5-6 inches of good ice. You can back your truck right to the shore and fish within 50 feet. Fishing was steady all morning.

Nice. That one bow on the top looks like it had been eating well.

[bobhappy] Sweet. I went there twice today. 730 am and again at 4 pm. I fished both North and South sides. I was in a Blue Jimmy with a red Eskimo tent in the am. We caught 7 fish. I live in Tooele and just got a flasher for Xmas. I was testing it out too for the "Big Boy" ponds.

[fishon] I hope to see you around.

I think we saw you. we were close to where we backed our truck to the shore edge...3 of us in two trucks. It is a great little reservoir. My new Vexilar FL-20 worked flawlessly...I could go right to the fish and get a bite nearly each chase.

Yeah, I am sure I saw you too. When I first got there I was putting money in my wallet and a guy joked and said that I pay him to fish there. Lol. When I left I talked to a guy that said he caught good browns there in the past.

My Vexilar FL8-SE was awesome too. The same went for me.

Grantsville Res. is a decent place.. The camping is free there too. Shore fishing can be tough, but so far I like the ice fishing. I like Vernon Res. for fly fishing. As far as the Tooele Res. goes, nothing much going on there. All I catch there are babies.

I will have to stick some BFT stickers in my window. I just have Broncos stickers on there now. Lol.

How was the dirt road coming to the lake and at the lake? How much snow?

A little slushy near the shore, but not a problem...2 wheel drive would be ok. I am returning Monday morning, so I will provide an update. Don't forget your paddle bug.

Sweet! Thanks for the reply Bob! I have faith in my Corolla, that thing has been put through the ringer going on dirt roads. Thanks for the tip on the paddle bug as well!

I am going to get a bit more aggressive targeting the big browns...on one line a bigger jig with sucker meat and then the other using some flash above a artificial fly...but for rainbows stick with a paddle bug (I won't tell you the color, but it rhymes with mean) with a meal worm. Let's hope Mantua remains the destination of choice.

Haha. Thanks. I'm hoping for a big brown. I'll be jigging some dynamic lures off the bottom and hope that works! I'll be in a Red Eskimo QuickFish3 feel free to drop by and say hey.
