Berry report

Had a great time at the berry today. Unloaded at the marina and cruised over to Haws Pt. Steady action until noon when we left.

Congratulations on a fine outing, but sure wish you wouldn't have posted this report until Sunday. I was looking forward to not having any snowmobiles zipping by me while I am fishing up there tomorrow.

Doubt that will happen Kent. I drove out on the lake and it was pretty sketchy so we took the land route.

In the spirit of full disclosure, 3 of us did ride out across the bay from the ramp to Hawx Pt. Ice was solid 7 inches and we didn't see any problem areas but it looked like we were the first to do it and the ice was really making lots of noise while we were fishing so we took the road back to be safe.

Noise is a good thing... it means the ice is growing. I fished Renegade and the ice there was 8+. I also drove my machine out onto the ice and parked about 100 yards out from shore. I am not ready to venture across the lake for another week. The ice tends to be a little thinner out in the center. I drove the groomed trail to and from the bay.

I was wondering if people take ATV's from the marina over to the Renegade side using the road. I have a 4x4 razor with chains available for it. I wouldn't want to tear up the trail so I would like to know if it is packed down enough to do it. Thanks
