Edges were not soft just pulled away from shore about 2-4 inches. With all the sleet there is a good 2-3 inches of slush water on top of the ice. Ice on north side of cemetery point was 5-7 inches on the south side of cemetery point in the bay by the sand beach and ramp ice was 8-10 inches.

Once we found the fish it was the fastest action for crappies I have ever fished. By the time we found them we had a hour left to fish before I had to leave to get to work. In that hour we iced 30 fish and missed lots of others. The reason it took us so long to find them is I have been on that lake once in my life before and that was for a bass tournament this past year. The ice was all good dark ice and fish were 6-10 inches in 45 feet of water but susspending around 25 feet and then a school on the bottom as well

Nice work finding the crappie! I have a few different areas I try to fish for crappie and I still have to work to find them every time I go out. Prepare to drill at least a dozen holes and keep moving till you find a school on the finder. After that it is still work getting them sometimes, but it is addictive!

I agree with what crappielover89 said. The ice was still around 6" north of cemetery, I didn't fish on the south side but, I did receive a report from another fisherman who went south first and met us on the north around 9:30. He said the ice was good on the south side. I left at 5:15 and the slush was starting to build from the wet snow/ sleet we got all day. Fishing was good for us also, we did have to work to find them but once we did it was fast action.

I've had insomnia all my life most nights I only sleep 2 hours and others not at all. That's why I fish every night to keep me busy

Not many, the perch are larger than last year but few and far between. It was the same story in the fall. Not many perch, but lots of small crappie.

Sounds like the perch have hit the crash that we all knew was coming. Hopefully the large ones are around long enough to make it worthwhile to fish for them.
