San Diego Deep Sea?
#1
So, I am visiting my brother in San Diego in a couple weeks before he heads off to be stationed in Hawaii. I am hoping for any suggestions to a charter anyone has used and had a good time with in the past. My preference would be a boat with under 25 people. The huge party boats are not that much fun to me.

Thanks for any input.

Check point Loma sportfishing. They run 3/4 day and 1/2 day trips this time of year for rock fish.

Your best for light crowds is going to be during the week. You have a couple of options down there like a half day trip around (5-5 30 hours) or a 3/4 day trip. Call ahead to find out their schedule for this time of the year .Lots of the sport boats are doing whale watch trips or dry dock for their annual inspection. Sea forth landing, Point Loma Sportfishing,H & M sportfishing and Fishermans Landing are your options. Pm me if you need more info. Prior to moving here in 2007 I was a captain on a half day boat for 15 years. Not the best time of the year to fish down there but it can be good.[reply][/reply]

It's usually nothing but rockfish this time of year, but a buddy of mine who lives in So Cal called me and said they're still catching bluefin tuna and yellowtail out at the Tanner and Cortez Banks. Check with the SD landings suggested to see if that will work for you. Crazy year down there.
