Hyrum this weekend
#1
We finally got out of the house and did some fishing. It took a little bit of trial and error to find what they wanted but we did manager to land a few nice rainbows. The perch were all fairly small, and sitting right off bottom, along with the planter bows.

We started in about 45 feet of water with little luck, so we moved in closer and punched a few holes where the water sits between 25-30 feet deep. In this area we could pick up some small perch, and rainbows on the bottom. The meal ticket this weekend was a bright yellow or bright orange jig head, and no body no tail. Meal Worms worked OK, but a plain hold Canadian crawler cut small had by far the fastest action for us.

Last, we did find that in the same general depth of 30 total feet or so, the bigger rainbows were swimming around in schools, and were about 10-15 feet from the surface of the ice. When we pulled the lures up to this depth we would get 8-10 hits between the group of 4, and pull in some fish. Then the bit would stop and we would wait 15-20 minutes for it to start again.
The fish up a littler higher ranged from 14-18 inches. Nothing that's going to break any records but still a lot of fun.

The day was beautiful, and the ice didn't make me flinch at all. We measured and closer to shore was a good 5-6 inches, where out past that it seemed to stay a good solid 7 inches measured with a tape. We didn't venture into the middle to test our luck however, so I can't speak to that part.

I hope everyone that goes out enjoys the tournament next weekend!
