Steinaker Report
#1
I decided to haul the little humans out of the house and into the ice tent. We made it onto the ice around 7 am and fished until noon.

The DWR fishing clinic was also being held on the lake. We stopped in to grab some hot cocoa and learn a few tips.

Within an hour or so there were a dozen tents and quite a few people. We fished the State Park side, south of the ramp. The fish hit every pole. We had 1/8 oz jigs in a variety of colors and power bait (green, pink and orange.) The kids missed 8-10 good hits and lost at least that many at the hole. We were fishing in 24' of water. Power bait on the bottom, jigging at 12-15'.

We seemed to be the only group catching fish, that doesn't happen very often Wink

Best of luck!

Thanks for posting your report, we sure don't get many from Seinakert. Good way to spend the morning, on the ice, with the kids. By the way, how thick was the ice?

We were about 80' off the shoreline and the ice was 8". We jumped on the lake right at the boat ramp where the State Park guys added the platform. Without the platform, you will probably baptize your boots trying to get onto the lake.

Sounds like you guys are having the same problem we are over here, ice is pulling away from the shore. Around here it is mainly because the water level in most lakes are rising.
