I talked to Bait_Caster today while he was out on the lake in his boat. He had already snagged his limit of cisco and was out in deeper water jigging for bigger fish. He said that getting his limit of cisco was quite easy. It was out over the rock pile in about 43 feet of water where he snagged his cisco. He said that he must of had a little better spot than the other 5 boats on the pile because while his cisco came in easy, it seemed slower for everyone else.
While I'm here talking cicso snagging, I'll describe for you the rig he was using (hope it is OK Terry if I share this before you even get a chance to post a report). BC had a swivel snap tied to the end of his main line and snapped onto one end of a 1 ½ oz. football shaped lead weight. On the other end of the lead weight, he tied a very short (about 1 inch) piece of 4 lb. line. To the end of the short 1 inch 4 lb. line, he tied a large treble hook. When jig snagging cisco on the rock pile, you soon learn that the lava type rocks on the rock pile eat treble hook lures (or any kind of lure for that matter). Some guys like to use large Kastmasters for snag jigging because of the weight and the treble hook. But often times those treble hooks snag in the rocks and you have to break your line to get free leaving an expensive lure snagged on the bottom. That setup that BC was using allows the 4 lb. line (the weak link) to break leaving just the inexpensive hook on the bottom and saving the lead weight. So you might loose a few cheep treble hooks and have to retie a few times but that's a lot better than loosing several expensive Kastmasters. [signature]
