Not sure how to fix it on Safari if you're using your iPad, I haven't had problems using my iPhone though.
On my desktop though I use Firefox with Adblock Plus installed and it really keeps the adds down. Before I started using Adblock, it was really taking a long time for each page (just BFT...) to load, not to mention the annoying content. Now I don't see any adds.
I don't know if this helps, but that's what I did. Maybe Safari has a similar add on to block them?

I don't mind the legitimate ads specifically related to fishing or boating. The others should be blocked. I especially don't care for the ones attempting to use sex as an enticement. I've thought about leaving the forum because of some of the ads.

Delete your cookies, The ads are generated by things you have looked at before or places your frequently shop, For example I look a lot at B&H photo and thats what my ads are the other is Iceland vacations because i search Iceland a lot for northern light photos . The only disturbing ad i have is vote for the ad you want to crash the Superbowl. maybe a guy should search for Jena Jamison ads lol

The ad service a forum uses generates the ads you see directly from the saved cookies in your browser. Has nothing to do with the forum choosing the ads and everything to do with your browsing history. If it's a shared computer it gives you an idea of what others have done searches for.

Your are right. All my adds are for fishing gear. If I could only afford it.
