Deer Creek ramp?
#1
Can anyone answer why in the world they plowed snow to the top of the ramp at deer creek? The lake is open as far as I can see and would like to take the boat up to do some fishing.

[#0000FF]Deer Creek has been placed on the list of "infected" lakes...quagga mussels...due to finding some larvae in last fall's water sampling. That means that DWR has to set up decontamination equipment and personnel to clean all boats leaving the lake. They likely do not have those things in place yet so they are blocking off access to the lake...as they are legally entitled to do.

Bummer.

I agree this is likely why they blocked the ramps with snow. However if it stays warm much longer the snow impediments won't last.

There is a decon station at the State Park Marina. I'm not sure it even can function in potentially freezing temperatures though.

Next thing you will notice is that there will be big concrete wall blockers.

Deer Creek State Park has a Facebook page. Today they announced they were opening the main ramp. If you than you need to pull your plugs and completely dry off the boat before leaving. If you plan on going to another lake in the next 30 days than it is required that you get it decontaminated. If you are only going into deer creek than only the pulling of plugs and drying boat is required.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

I'm pretty sure that the concrete blocks are reserved only for government shut downs.

I talked to the main marina last week, yes you can put float tubes or pontoons on the water. You just have to drag them down the boat ramp . The upper boat ramp looks like about 75 feet to the water, and not very steep. I was there last sunday.

She also told me that there is a guy there to spray boats at the main marina, didn't sound like full time ,I would call to make sure. It sure didn't sound like they were restricting boats, but pretty much impossible until they clear the snow from in front of the ramp to launch a conventional boat. Best thing to do is call the marina. Heres the # : 435-654-0171

It appears that the upper boat ramp had melted off, still blocked off with a pile of snow. They have a sign posted on a saw horse on the boat ramp stating boat ramp is closed. Why close the boat ramp ,other then not wanting boats on the water. Kind of conflicting considering I was told at the main marina it was okay to launch inflatables.
Could be inflatables are okay, conventional boats are not ?????????
