Decided to hit up Rockport again on Sunday, February 01. I started early at about 7:00 on the east side of the reservoir. I had read reports that access was difficult, but I was able to make it onto the ice ok. I didn't take a plank, and getting off was a little tricky - so be careful.
I had fished this area a few weeks before and landed 4 17-19 inch rainbows, about 15-20 feet down in 30 feet of water. This time, NO LUCK in that spot.
Wiperhunter2 was able to help me out with a few tips, which proved to be useful. After relocating, I was able to catch a bunch of rainbows at about 15 feet down.. I was trying to catch Perch of the bottom, but could not find any.
DNR was out and about on the West side of the reservoir, and there were a couple of access points on this side (Log, Plank) when I left in the afternoon the ice was soft on the edges and I wasn't able to walk directly off the ice - so I had to use the log.
