Rockport 02/01/15
#1
Decided to hit up Rockport again on Sunday, February 01. I started early at about 7:00 on the east side of the reservoir. I had read reports that access was difficult, but I was able to make it onto the ice ok. I didn't take a plank, and getting off was a little tricky - so be careful.

I had fished this area a few weeks before and landed 4 17-19 inch rainbows, about 15-20 feet down in 30 feet of water. This time, NO LUCK in that spot.

Wiperhunter2 was able to help me out with a few tips, which proved to be useful. After relocating, I was able to catch a bunch of rainbows at about 15 feet down.. I was trying to catch Perch of the bottom, but could not find any.

DNR was out and about on the West side of the reservoir, and there were a couple of access points on this side (Log, Plank) when I left in the afternoon the ice was soft on the edges and I wasn't able to walk directly off the ice - so I had to use the log.

Glad you were able to make it up there before the ice was gone, sorry to hear the perch did not want to play but glad to hear the bows did not let you down. Those bigger bows are some fatties. With the warm weather and temps this week, I'm not sure how it will be this coming weekend, I think the ice is about done for this year[Sad].
