Good day BFT'rs,
I got 2 boys going up to East Canyon for Scouts this Friday and was wondering if anyone had an update on the ice situation?

I know the tournament this last weekend was ended early due to bad ice conditions. If you don't have a 10 foot plank you might not get to the ice, or off of it later in the afternoon.

Thanks B,
I'll just make sure the Leaders keep the boys off the ice for safety reasons. Appreciate the update...

I was up there last Friday, and I got wet trying to get on the ice. Once on, the ice was about 7" and slick as I have ever seen it. There was a little bit of water puddling on top by mid day. I noticed that the pools of open water had increased in size from my trip two weeks earlier.
My guess is that we'll be fishing ice off by the end of the month, possibly sooner if the wind blows hard.

Thanks Elk,
Just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who is actually up there now. He says it's 6" and sketchy, fishing is slow to boot. Definitely need a plank or waders to get on the ice. He mentioned Game Warden falling thru near the Marina while checking licenses. Not sure if he saw it or was told by another. Looks like the soft water is coming back with a vengeance, Time to switch tackle...
