I decided to temp fate again at Willard and do another solo trip. I didn't make it to the north marina until 1pm ,and started wondering if I pushed my luck one to many times when I heard some other anglers talking about only catching 1 fish all day. So I put the boat in anyway and headed right back to the spot that treated me so well last week. started trolling flicker shads in various colors, put my junk out 75 feet and in less than 5 minutes had my first wiper of the day on, so far so good got set up again and just a few minutes later whamo another wiper. at that time I got on the radio looking for wiperhunter , I couldn't raise him but found wipermac ,let him know about my luck and he reported that he was having good luck also so I decided to move to his old spot big mistake that was my last fish for about 45 minutes. lucky for me he got me back on the radio and told me to get to his new hot spot . so I moved set back up and proceeded to catch 4 nice walleye and another 4 wipers got off the water at 6pm happy to have had another great day. water temp was 55 degs. when I started and peaked at 60. 70 deg air temp zero wind and no bugs what a day. thanks again to wipermac for the tips he's a class act [cool] p/s I got my hopes up when I saw the cover off the fish cleaning station (no more fish cleaning at home) not so fast sign saying pipes were broken greeted me [shocked] I guess that was the only downer of the day ,

I will the solo trips are getting old , are ok with short notice some times I have cancelations and that when I can go on week days I usually know the night before

If it's not too much information, what size flicker shads to you have the best luck with?

I think the size is 2.75 inches cabelas only reverse cougar, purple cougar and fire tiger, patterns I think that presentation and location were more important factors than the lure size and colors though . just as long as you get something in the genera shape and color.

Yup ... +1 ... and even then I think location the most important of those two factors. Just find them and it's not too hard to land wipers this year (so far anyway, but that too will change).
It has been interesting to learn just how much those wipers really do move around that lake in any given week. One day a particular spot will be hot and then 3 days later ... nothing while they are somehere else biting good.

I treat locating fish at Willard like any other lost item I go back to where I last saw them and try and find them from there[laugh]
